The Genographic Project

The partnership with IBM, National Geographic has taken on a project that would change the world. Together and with the help of many scientific experts, they will find the true answers to where we have come from and how did we get here. This project is titled "The Genographic Project". The Genographic project is a project that involves world wide participation. Scientists have been placed around the world where they will encounter indigenious groups of people trying to find an answer to their question. They will do this by taking a sample of DNA from people from these groups hoping to find an answer. They would also need as many samples of DNA from people around the world so that they may build a family tree of sorts so that we may trace our exsistence back to the beginning. Scientists belive that when DNA is manipulated throught the life cycle, many change while others stay the same. If they could find those strands that stay the same between us and the many other people around the world, they will be one step closer to finding out this mystery. This project has just come to par with us because now, we have the right advancments in technology to accomplish a feat such as this. This has also come under great timing because with the world now mixing and the indigenious groups of people diminishing, scientists have to work fast if they hope to get the answers they want. Without the indigenious groups, we would have none or a very little to start from. So in conclusion, this project in my mind is a great idea that should be monitored more seriously by the general public because I believe you don't really know who you are unless you know where you came from.

Are Wii the Children of the Revolution?

There are many great systems in our world today. There is the playstation 1,2, and 3, gamecube, xbox and xbox 360. But none of them have ever been used like the nintendo wii. The great thing about this new system is that your actions are put into the game, literally. You hold the controller rite in your hand and move like you would when you are playing the game. There are different games like tennis, baseball, and many more creative games. With all of these great attributes to this new system, I still think that Nintendo Wii is overrated. I do not think that this is a true technological revolution. Personally, I have played the Nintendo Wii and know the real reasons why people love this system so much. The graphics are okay, the actions that you do are right on, but most of all because the controller is very different and you can use your actions in the actually game instead of just pressing on some buttons like any toher systems. The Nintendo Wii was sold around the same time as the xbox 360 and playstation 3. The Nintendo Wii is much cheaper than any of those two consoles for a reason. People are getting fooled because of the new technology that is being used in this system. The Nintendo Wii is not a true technological revolution.

Reading in Cyberspace ?!?

Google book search is a creative tool that helps you locate any information on books. This tool affects the Google's relationship with publishers. This makes Google's relationship with publishers more better. If google wants to show published books on their google book search, they have to have the authorization of the publishers of the books displayed on google. This shows that the publishers are okay with google book search to display their book. Google's competitors such as yahoo and microsoft have found that there competitor, google, has new technology and are finding that google is taking over their business. They have tried to match google's newest edition, book search, by adding new features to their website. This new tool can impact the access of information because it will make people's life much more easier, as what technology is suppose to do. Instead of people going to the library and finding information about a book they can use their own internet to get some information. Some librarians might be threatened by this new addition by google but some may not. It will certainly give some librarians less business and less work, which is bad but also good at the same time. I think this new tool by google is an easier way for people to search up information on books and it will help our society for years to come.

When War meets Video Games

In our society today, many people spend most of their time playing video games. There are many video games that are very popular. Examples are Counter Strike, Halo, Grand Theft Auto, and many more. Most of the popular video games are war games. War games are really fun but are a bad influence on kids these days. There is a lot of shooting, killing, blood, guns, and many more violent things.

I think these games let the people whos playing them know what war is really like. People are getting the idea that war would be fun because it was in a video game.

An IPOD classroom?

Having an iPod classroom may not sound like a bad idea, but it does have some disadvantages to it. IPod is known as the best selling mp3 player, so meaning to say that alot of people have iPods. But many of these people who are using the iPod classroom, may say as an excuse that they can just skip the seminar class and say they can just simply record it and listen to it later. Any clues why it can be a disadvantage? Well think of it this way, you have alot of people buying these iPod players to listen to music but many of them can tend to be lazy so they use that same old excuse to listen to the seminar later. But also, they get carried away saying they wont fall behind and just tend to listen to music while recording in the seminar or some just don't prefer to listen to it as a classroom, some would prefer to listen to the iPod for music.

But it can also be viewed as an advantage, because it makes it very easier for the students to listen to the iPod classroom. Even if you missed out on what you heard, you can always rewind it and pick up what you missed because if you were to listen in a real seminar class, some teachers may never go back to what you missed out on. Even if you want a break for example, because of the many long hours of listening to the seminar, you can just pause it and just take a break and later go back to where you were.

With the GOOD, comes the BAD

Modern technology today, has some advantages and disadvantages. Examples of the modern technology we have now are: cell phones, Ipods, digital cameras, computers, and many more. All these things were designed to make all our lives easier and faster. Although, they do make our lives much easier, there are always some pros and cons about having all these things.

Examples are if you have a car, it gets you around from place to place and is very fast, but if you keep on driving it you don't get enough exercise and it pollutes the air. If you use cell phones, you can communicate and send messages with it but it costs a lot of money. Also, many cell phones today have a camera. This is good for taking pictures on the spot and sending them to whoever you want but this also costs a lot of money and takes up space on your phone. Ipods and mp3 players are good because you can take music with you and listen to it wherever you go, the bad thing about this is that people get addicted to their music and play the same song over and over again. This is very annoying for some people and if you play it loud enough, it can affect your hearing.

So, with all these pros and cons about modern technology today, we can say that with the good, comes the bad.
